Progress Energy Storm Damage Assessment and Restoration Emergency Storm Response

Some description

Progress Energy: Storm Damage Assessment & Restoration

Davey Resource Group (DRG) played a key role in damage assessment and restoration efforts for Progress Energy during the 2004 hurricane season, which included hurricanes Charley, Francis, Ivan and Jeanne.

DRG utility arborists arrive from areas across the country to assist local storm centers with restoration. Damage assessment teams were responsible for conducting "backbone" and "pole-to-pole" patrols. During the patrols, the damage assessor would identify damaged hardware, broken or damaged poles and vegetation management needs.

Our staff prepared work plans for out-of-state contractors and trained new DRG utility arborists on the damage assessment process as they were funneled into restoration areas. We also communicated predetermined messages to Progress Energy customers in Florida on restoration efforts and status of outages and performed other tasks as assigned by local storm center coordinators.
